Wondering about the traditional happenings on Bainbridge Island throughout the year. Here is a list to make sure you don’t miss any of the biggies.

January

• Polar Bear Plunge – at exactly noonish on January 1st at Lylte Beach near Fort Ward Park – bring your beach towel and your courage!  Video from a sunny New Year’s Day in 2011. Although this video is now sort of vintage, the event is exactly the same ;0 Gotta love a good tradition.
• Mochi Tsuski Festival at Woodward Middle School.
• First Friday Art Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits

February

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Chilly Hilly Bicycle Ride – sponsored by Cascade Bicycle Club, a bicycle tour with participants from all over Puget Sound

March

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits

April

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

May

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Scotchbroom Parade – this golden weed is honored in an impromptu and random parade held sometime in May – this is a word-of-mouth thing
• Annual Boater’s Fair – Coast Guard safety training for all ages sponsored by the Eagle Harbor Yacht Club
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

June

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

July

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• The Allcomer’s Track Meets start up this month and runs much of the summer. The event is for all ages and is held on Monday evenings at either the Bainbridge High School Track or the Woodward Track
• Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale is held in early July at Woodward Middle School. The biggest and best sale of the season – make your list for shopping and keep a pile in the garage for donating
• Grand Old Fourth – parade & street fair in Winslow – sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce – this is a can’t miss event on the island
• Fourth of July Fun Run – 5K walk and run through Bainbridge Island – sponsored by Bainbridge Youth Services
• Concerts in the Park – Wednesday evenings presented by Bainbridge Island Parks and Recreation
• Old Timers Baseball Game – the morning of the 4th at the Bainbridge Island High School Field
• Bainbridge in Bloom – public tour of local private gardens
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

August

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Summer Studio Tour – tour local artists’ studios
• Chief Seattle Days – dancing, drumming, crafts & food fair in Suquamish – just over the Agate Pass Bridge
• Concerts in the Park – Wednesday evenings presented by Bainbridge Island Parks and Recreation
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

September

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

October

• First Fridays Art Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• The Fall Festival HeyDay @Winney Farm is held in early October
• Pumpkin Walk – Halloween fun  and Jack-o-Lantern Walk at Bainbridge Gardens
• The Suyematsu Farm’s Pumpkin Patch on Day Road is open all month
• Trick or treating in Downtown Winslow
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

November

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Bainbridge Island Turkey Trot – Thanksgiving Day run at Ballepoint Park  – a benefit for Helpline house!
• Holiday Open House & Tree Lighting – sponsored by the BI Downtown Association
• Farmer’s Market – fresh local produce & crafts every Saturday from April through December at the City Hall Town Square

December

• First Friday Arts Walk – gallery tour in Downtown Winslow featuring new exhibits
• Bainbridge Holiday Studio Tour – local artists offer holiday shopping event
• Christmas in the Country – tour of open houses featuring crafts and other gifts
• Musical Fire Truck – around Bainbridge Island Neighborhoods, firemen spread cheer and candy canes
