Spend Sunday, May 1st with Bainbridge Island Land Trust

Mark Next Sunday, 12-4 down on your calendar.  Atop a glorious upland meadow on one of the highest points on Bainbridge Island, you can celebrate the likes of spring on May Day with the Bainbridge Island Land Trust Group.  Usher in spring with:

• Live Music from Agate Pass
• Local Food from Emmy’s Veggie House, J’aime les Crepes,  and TreeRoot Espresso
• Pony Rides
• Kid’s Crafts
• Nature Games
• Live Raptors from West Sound Wildlife Shelter (2-3pm)
• Stunning Olympic Mountain Views if Mother Nature cooperates

Hilltop Acquisition

This May Day Festival is a celebration of the acquisition of a 31 acre piece of property that connects the east and west sections of The Grand Forrest, creating 540 contiguous acres of glorious green space that benefits, people, wildlife and water resources.  This acquisition will:

• Preserve the land from residential construction
• Protect two watersheds that flow to the Puget Sound
• Allow pristine fertile space for community gardens
• Create a 4.5 mile trail across the center of the island
• Conserve habitats, yet still provide public access

Many people move to Bainbridge island to escape city life.  Supporters of BILT realize that development must be smart and conservation must be part of every new project if we hope to keep our island green and beautiful for generations to come.  I have been very excited about this Hilltop Acquisition because it creates an amazingly large open and protected space (540 acres) at the center of our island.  After each real estate closing I donate 3% of my commission check to local housing charities.  Land Trust is one of those groups.  I have focused my donations this winter and spring to Land Trust as they finalize the purchase of this Hilltop property.  I look forward to next Sunday to explore this amazing gift to the island.
