Last year a record 6,000+ cyclists showed up for the ride. This week we have had record low temperatures in the Seattle area. You tell me, is that good or bad the Chilly Hilly? Well, since I ran three lil’ ole miles today, out at Battle Point Park, in the biting wind and 30 degree temperatures, I say bad. My fingers and toes say bad. But, alas, I am not a cyclist. My huband does ride, but for practical commuting purposes only. Riding is not what he would consider “fun.”
The total ride is 33 miles around the island and 2,675 feet of climbing, hello!
Yes, but, I do like to see them unload off the ferry. I also like to see the cyclists climbing all the hills around the island. Yes, this will cause ferry delays, but it is only once a year. The ride runs from 8am to 3pm, starting from the ferry dock. The biggest impact will be on the Seattle sailings at 7:55 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 9:35 a.m., and 10:35 a.m
Personally, I will be dreaming of a trip to a tropical locale . . . but thousands of cyclists will be riding around the island distracting me and making me feel guilty. Sunday is a day for real estate open houses. But around here, they are light, because seasoned Realtors know that an open house = a convenient pit stop for a cyclist.
